Ruth Kissane is among the elite women animators. Like in most industries women seemed to be under appreciated. Kissane was born in 1929. She started working in the 1960’s. She was not only an animator, but also a graphic designer, and even mentions of directing, for many movies. She also taught at Cal Arts and won a Winsor McCay award in 1991.

Ruth Kissane worked in all the major studios at one time in her, such as Disney, Playhouse Pictures, Bill Melendez Productions, Film Roman, and even Chuck Jones Enterprises. She was most known for her work on the Peanuts TV specials. She worked on both on design layout, animation, and even directed. In 1975 she was presented a Festival de Cannes award for her work in WOW Women of the World.

Ruth Kissane also worked on It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World 1963, Heavy Metal 1981, the Charlie Brown TV movies, and much more. Later in life she taught at Cal Arts from 1987 to 1990, when she died. A Cal Arts she taught classes in motion graphics. In 1991 she was honored with a Winsor McCay award.
